Wednesday, April 22, is Earth Day. As a City, we will be hosting a couple of different activities.
An awareness campaign began April 6 at the Community Center and City Hall. Individuals can write down their commitment for Earth Day on a “leaf” which will be placed on a “tree.” The goal is for overall general awareness of Earth Day. How big will the tree be on Earth Day?
How do you get to work? City employees are encouraged, if possible, to find an alternative form of transportation to work on Earth Day. We did this last year and it was interesting to see and hear how people made it to work.
“Ask Jim.” Community Center employees will be working with Jim Gorski, Building & Grounds employee, on the flower & shrub beds at the Community Center the morning of Earth Day. Individuals with questions are encouraged to stop by and chat with Jim. Work will begin around 8:00 AM and conclude at 10:45 AM. If it is raining, we will move inside the Community Center. Jim does all of the plants inside the Community Center, as well.
Next, Public Works will be doing the annual Arbor Day Celebration starting at 11:00 AM. A highlight will be the free tree samplings.
