Neighborhood Pool Party

The annual Riss Lake Spring Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, May 17th beginning at 8:00 a.m. The participating fee will be $5.00 for residents, which covers all advertising for the event. Signs will be purchased to assist in directing traffic to the major street, intersetion or cul-de-sac of the participating residents. The garage sale will be advertised in the Northland newspapers for two consective weeks before the sale. Participants are welcome to open their doors Friday for a sneak preview for neighbors and friends. However, the actual advertised sale time will be Saturday, May 17th beginning at 8:00 a.m. Please mail the $5.00 participation fee to Lynne Barr, 8011 Timbercrest Place, Parkville, MO. If you pay by check, please make the check payable to Lynne Barr. If you send cash payment, please include your return address. The City of Kansas City will conduct their bi-monthly bulky item pickup today. Items must be at the curb by 7 am. No hazardous materials, car tires, batteries, yard waste or brush will be picked up.

44th Annual Steam Engine Show. Revisit agricultural history by viewing hay baling, antique tractor, gasoline engines, wood sawing, steam engine, threshing, scale model, saw milling and black smithing demonstrations. Qualifying Championship Triathlon event. Athlete participants qualify at previous triathlons to participate at this Championship event. Participating athletes may also qualify to participate try-out for the U.S. Triathlon Team.

This is the last day the pool will be open for the 2005 season.

For children from age three through high school, Sunday School is held 52 weeks a year from 10:15 to 11:15 a. m., at which time the children join their families during the "peace" prior to communion. For the younger children, the curriculum used is Living The Good News from Morehouse publishing, a lectionary based curriculum. For middle school and high school students, lessons are planned from the readings for the Sunday. A highlight of the year is the Christmas Pageant and Program where every child has an opportunity to appear in the program.

Haitian Episcopal Learning Programs HELP is sponsoring an informative get-together of those working or interested in supporting mission work in Haiti. It will feature a talk and Q & A with Pere Franz Cole ("FanFan"), rector of the parishes of Torbeck, Haiti, and include Haitian hors d"ouerves, art, photos, videos and small group discussions.

A brunch for all newcomers to Redeemer will be held today at 12:00 p.m. at the House of Prayer. If you are new to Redeemer, consider this an invitation to attend. This is a great opportunity to begin connecting with different ministries at Redeemer.

Will be present on all three days of Gladfest

Gladfest: For twenty six years, this major Northland event has drawn crowds in the tens of thousands, and brings with it enormous publicity for Gladstone as well as the businesses involved in making it happen. "Gladfest 26: Gladfiesta" celebrated 26 wonderful years of Gladfest. On Saturday evening we hold a "Gladstone Idol" contest. This contest is open to all Northland residents 16 years of age or older. Ponch with Mix 93.3 was the celebrity judge for the contest. A band will play live music at Central Park on Friday. On Saturday, Center Stage at Gladfiesta there will be FREE Entertainment! Other Gladfest activities included commercial and craft tents, excellent food, a carnival, live entertainment, a Kid's Corner, a Saturday morning parade and much, much more. The Annual Conference for the Diocese of West Missouri Episcopal Church Women will begin with a Eucharist at 12 noon on Friday and will end at noon on Saturday. The keynote speaker will be Patricia Brooke, from the Diocese of West Texas. On Friday evening she will present "Creating a Sacred Space" and on Saturday morning she will lead a workshop on the same topic. Please come and enjoy the fellowship of the Episcopal Church Women from throughout the diocese as we explore "Growing Into God's Future." Pick up a registration form in Coffelt Hall near the coffee.
